KFSH&RC Hospital Clinical Pharmacy Department Visit | Mentorship Program
As part of the College of Pharmacy Mentorship Program, junior pharmacy students at Alfaisal University visited King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC) on Monday, November 24, 2025. The visit aimed to introduce students to hospital and clinical pharmacy practice and deepen their understanding of pharmacists’ roles in patient care.
Students observed clinical pharmacists working within the PICU and CSPICU, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize therapy for critically ill patients. They also toured the inpatient, outpatient, and satellite pharmacies, where they gained insight into medication verification, prescription clarification, and patient counseling workflows.
The visit also highlighted the hospital’s advanced automation technologies, including Pyxis, Carousel, RIVA, and ScriptPro, which support safe and efficient medication management.
This enriching experience provided students with a deeper understanding of the vital roles hospital pharmacists play and the innovative technologies that support their work. Special thanks are extended to the KFSH&RC team, particularly Dr. Khalid Taher, Pediatric Consultant Clinical Pharmacist and Clinical Pharmacy Manager, and Dr. Ashjan Alghanem, Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist, for their guidance and support during the visit.
