Make Your Own Medicine Workshop | Mentorship Program

The College of Pharmacy at Alfaisal University successfully launched its first-ever mentorship summer program for high school students under the theme, “Make Your Own Medicine Workshop.” The program welcomed 30 high school students from diverse backgrounds, offering them an immersive introduction to the field of pharmacy.
Over the course of the week, students engaged in interactive sessions covering:
- The role of a pharmacist
- Laboratory safety and pharmaceutical equipment
- Dosage forms and formulation basics
- How medicines are made
- Drug origins and extraction techniques
- Hands-on compounding, including the preparation of simple syrup, ointments and vanishing cream
The workshop not only highlighted the scientific and professional aspects of pharmacy but also emphasized teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
The program concluded with a closing ceremony and an industry field trip to Riyadh Pharma, where students gained valuable real-world exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing. The College of Pharmacy extends its sincere appreciation to Riyadh Pharma for providing this unique learning opportunity.
This initiative was organized by Dr. Arwa Alhaj Issa, with the support of Dr. Rahaf Yaseen, Dr. Raghad Alamodi, Dr. Rakan Alanazi, Ms. Noura Binsaeed, Ms. Deema Al Luhayb, and Ms. Abeer Aljahbali, under the supervision of Dr. Muthanna Albaldawi. Their collective efforts were instrumental in making the workshop a success.
This program represents a milestone for the College of Pharmacy, inspiring future generations to pursue careers in pharmacy and healthcare.
