Pharmacy Students Lemon Pharmacy Visit | Mentorship Program
Title: Pharmacy Students Lemon Pharmacy Visit Date: November 10, 2024
As part of the College of Pharmacy (COP) mentorship program, a series of field trips was initiated to introduce pharmacy students to various career opportunities, starting with a visit to a community pharmacy. On Sunday, November 10, 2024, pharmacy students at the University Preparatory Program (UPP) of Alfaisal University embarked on the first of these trips with an informative visit to a community Pharmacy. The visit to Lemon Pharmacy, one of the biggest chain pharmacies in Saudi Arabia, allowed students to explore various operations at the pharmacy and gain insights into pharmacy sections. Such opportunity enabled the students to visit the compounding area, where Dr. Tamim Turkmani, an expert pharmacist in compounding, demonstrated the process of preparing an antiperspirant solution and a whitening cream, along with the tricks associated with calculations and weighing of compounds. This hands-on experience provided students with valuable knowledge on compounding techniques and the role of retail pharmacists. Following that, the head manager of Lemon Pharmacy, Dr. Ahmed Elgazzar, gave a thorough speech on the role of pharmacists in community pharmacy and the challenges that pharmacists can face. Dr. Elgazzar provided invaluable guidance on the main requirements and regulations that govern the operation of a community pharmacy.
